Aktuelt / Norkring Belgium to conclude first round of selection
(Brussels - 17/5/2010) Norkring Belgium will be concluding the first round of its
selection procedure concerning the leasing of its broadcasting network on 31st May. This will allow the company to concentrate on completing the preparation of its broadcasting infrastructure by the autumn of this year. Norkring Belgium has been innegotiations with a number of parties, during which time one contract has been concluded.
Norkring Belgium is committed to having its broadcasting network fully operational by this autumn for all parties with which it will have concluded an agreement by 31st May of this year. Additional partners who sign an agreement with Norkring Belgium after 31st May 2010 will be able to begin commercially broadcasting their own output as of 31st May 2011.
Norkring’s infrastructure allows the wireless broadcasting in Flanders and Brussels of TV and radio programmes in digital quality via the ‘digital ether’. The broadcasts are received via a small antenna in or next to the television set or radio.

Norkring Belgium is a network operator with its own broadcasting network and transmission licenses for wireless digital television, digital radio and other digital data applications in Flanders and Brussels. Norkring Belgium has operated the entire transmitter site for Flanders and Brussels since March 5, 2009. Norkring Belgium also obtained the licenses, and the related digital frequency packages, to offer a television and radio broadcasting network in late June 2009.
